Chelle Awaits NFF Verdict After Super Eagles’ AFCON Exit

Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has stated that his continuation as Nigeria’s manager will be decided by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Chelle’s two‑year contract, signed in January 2025, included a target of reaching the AFCON final. However, Nigeria’s campaign ended in the semi‑finals after a penalty‑shootout defeat to Morocco on Wednesday.

Speaking after the match, Chelle said, “My future, I don’t know for now. I am the coach of Nigeria at this moment, but it depends on whether the NFF want me to continue or not.” He added that discussions with the federation will take place after the tournament.

The NFF is yet to comment on whether Chelle will remain in charge for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
