The CityBoy Movement, Abia State Chapter, has held its first strategic meeting bringing together the State Executives, Zonal Coordinators, and the coordinators and assistant coordinators of all 17 Local Government Areas at the Movement’s permanent State Headquarters located at 20 BCA Road, Umuahia.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the meeting, chaired by the State Director, Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, centred on strengthening the Movement’s organisational structure, deepening grassroots mobilisation, accelerating membership registration, and implementing resolutions from the recent National Directors’ Meeting and the CityBoy Movement National Retreat.
In his opening remarks, Igbokwe welcomed members to the session and stressed the importance of unity, discipline, teamwork, and strict adherence to the Movement’s chain of command. He explained that the National Retreat had produced key resolutions aimed at strengthening the Movement’s organisational capacity, particularly around due process, financial administration, membership mobilisation, and grassroots engagement.
The State Director reiterated that the CityBoy Movement remains an independent support platform established primarily to mobilise Nigerians for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, while noting that the group intends to remain active in promoting progressive leadership and national development beyond that political cycle.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Igbokwe directed all 17 LGA Coordinators and their assistants to begin serious, sustained membership registration in their respective areas without delay, stressing that the strength of the Abia Chapter would be measured by verifiable registrations rather than estimated figures. He urged coordinators to make full use of the Movement’s official mobile application for enrolment and verification purposes.
He further directed LGA Coordinators to immediately begin securing suitable locations for official Movement offices within their areas, explaining that these offices would serve as coordination centres for registration, meetings, and grassroots mobilisation activities. The State Executive Committee, he disclosed, would soon embark on a tour of all 17 Local Government Areas to inspect the offices, engage with local leadership, and assess mobilisation progress, with coordinators urged to ensure their offices are fully organised ahead of the exercise.
The meeting was also informed that the National Directorate would soon carry out the formal inauguration of the CityBoy Movement, Abia State Chapter, an event Igbokwe described as a major milestone in consolidating the chapter’s structure. He called on coordinators to intensify mobilisation efforts to guarantee strong turnout and representation from across all 17 councils, adding that a firm date would be communicated once confirmed by the National Directorate.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the strategic meeting also featured a round of leadership changes within the Abia Chapter. Hon. Kanu Chiwendu moved from State Treasurer to State Finance Director, while Hon. Okezie Clement Erondu was redeployed from Abia South Zonal Coordinator to State Treasurer. Mr. Charles Ukeagu was suspended and relieved of his position as State Organizing Secretary over concerns including gross inefficiency, insubordination, and conduct considered inimical to the Movement’s constituted authority, with Hon. Iheanyi Philip Okparaocha named Acting State Organizing Secretary in his place.
Other appointments announced include Mrs. Joy Maduka as State Contact and Mobilization Officer, Mr. Godson Emenike as State Media and Communications Director, Mrs. Chioma Okoronkwo as State Welfare and Logistics Officer, and Hon. Friday Dimiri as Abia South Zonal Coordinator. Igbokwe congratulated the newly appointed and redeployed officers, charging them to serve with discipline, loyalty, and commitment to the Movement’s objectives.
Earlier in the day, former Inspector-General of Police, Sir Mike Mbama Okiro, paid a visit to the CityBoy Movement’s Abia State Headquarters, where he hoisted the Movement’s flag during his engagement with the chapter’s leadership.
The meeting closed with a renewed commitment from the Abia State Chapter to strengthen its grassroots structures statewide, with the leadership identifying membership registration, functional LGA offices, preparations for the chapter’s inauguration, voter education, and community engagement as immediate priorities. The chapter reaffirmed its alignment with the directives of the National Directorate under the leadership of Director General, Hon. Francis Shoga, and its commitment to the Movement’s broader national mission.
