Court Showdown as Aggrieved Party Hauls INEC to Court, Demands Cancellation of NDC’s Registration

An aggrieved political party has dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before a Federal High Court, seeking a judicial order compelling the electoral body to withdraw its registration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a political party in Nigeria.

The suit, filed at the Federal High Court, challenges the legality and process through which INEC granted the NDC full registration status, with the plaintiff arguing that the commission failed to comply with constitutional requirements and the provisions of the Electoral Act before approving the party’s registration.
