Ethiopian Airlines has paid a significant sanction fee to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for violations of the country’s consumer protection regulations.
The NCAA confirmed the payment, which stems from the airline’s failure to comply with rules designed to protect passenger rights. While the exact amount and specific infractions were not detailed, such violations typically involve issues like undue flight delays, cancellations, baggage handling problems, or failure to provide mandatory compensation to affected passengers.
The Director-General of the NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu, stated that the regulatory body will not tolerate any airline compromising the rights of the Nigerian flying public. He emphasized that all carriers operating in Nigeria, both foreign and domestic, are required to strictly adhere to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs).
