A Federal High Court in Abuja has declared Abdugani Arobo the valid candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election, setting aside the nomination of Timehin Adeleye.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Justice Peter Lifu delivered the judgment after considering a suit filed by Arobo against the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The case challenged the party’s decision to submit Adeleye’s name despite the outcome of the primary election.
CDA News gathered from the report that the court held that the APC failed to make a lawful return from its primary election and found contradictions in the evidence presented by the party. The court ruled that Arobo lawfully won the primary election held on May 16, 2026, after polling **7,959 votes in Owo Local Government Area** and **2,583 votes in Ose Local Government Area**.
Justice Lifu ordered the APC to recognise only Arobo as the winner of the primary election and restrained the party from dealing with any other aspirant as its candidate for the constituency.
The court also directed INEC to reopen its nomination portal to enable the APC to submit and upload Arobo’s name as the party’s duly nominated candidate for the 2027 general election.
