ABUJA — Executive Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Oyetunde Ojo, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what he described as significant achievements in job creation, security, and people-oriented reforms .
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Ojo made the remarks on an Arise Television programme, highlighting that the FHA had not recruited staff for more than 20 years until the Tinubu administration approved fresh recruitment of 400 staff. He noted that the government had also opened recruitment into the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the military, and forest guard initiatives, improving access to employment .
CDA News Nigeria reports that Ojo defended the state police proposal, dismissing concerns that such a structure could be politically abused. He noted that similar fears were raised when the South-West security outfit, Amotekun, was established, but those concerns did not materialise in the last election .
On emergency response, Ojo said the Nigeria Fire Service now has a shorter response time of about 10 to 15 minutes . He also highlighted reforms in the correctional system, stating that about 11,000 inmates had been released or benefited from interventions, with close to 30 inmates now pursuing master’s degrees and close to 400 pursuing first degrees inside prison .
Ojo also addressed the controversy surrounding former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s proposal to restore fuel subsidy if elected, saying Tinubu had fulfilled his campaign promises, including subsidy removal and his position on state police. “Let his opponents come out and tell what they can do differently,” Ojo said .
