Israel Declares Troops Will Remain in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza Indefinitely

Israel has announced that it will not withdraw its troops from Lebanon, Syria and Gaza, despite growing international pressure and recent diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East.

Israeli Defence Minister, Israel Katz, said the government, under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had adopted a policy of maintaining military presence in what it described as “security zones” for an unlimited period to safeguard Israeli communities from security threats.

According to Katz, the Israeli military would continue operations in the three territories to prevent attacks by armed groups and dismantle what he described as terrorist infrastructure. He also warned that Israel would respond with “full force” if Iran launched attacks linked to developments in Lebanon.

The declaration came shortly after reports of a US-Iran understanding aimed at reducing regional hostilities. However, Israel’s latest stance underscores the challenges facing diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.

The decision is expected to draw criticism from regional leaders and international organizations, who have repeatedly called for de-escalation and respect for international law.
