KATSINA — The political crisis within the All Progressives Congress in Katsina State has escalated following the invitation of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC) and Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for questioning .
The invitation of the two senior security aides has heightened concerns over the growing rivalry between factions loyal to Governor Radda and those aligned with Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Political Matters .
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the two officers were invited to the Force Headquarters on August 20, 2026, following allegations linked to the destruction of campaign billboards bearing the image of President Tinubu and Masari along the Modoji Junction-Katsina Government House Road in Katsina . The police have not publicly disclosed the specific reason for the invitation .
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, however, clarified that the two officers were invited for questioning over issues originating from Katsina State but were not arrested or detained . He stated that preliminary investigations had established that neither officer had committed a crime, and they have since been released and returned to their duty posts .
Party sources described the disagreement as an increasingly bitter struggle for political influence within the Katsina APC ahead of the 2027 elections . One senior APC member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “The disagreement is no longer limited to party politics. It is now affecting institutions that should remain completely insulated from political contests” .
