Nigerian Student Qudus Ajeyemi Jailed 5½ Years in UK for Attempted Rape, to Be Deported

A Nigerian student, Qudus Ajeyemi, has been sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison for attempted rape and sexual assault of a drunk woman in Hull, United Kingdom.

Ajeyemi, 27, nicknamed “Spartan,” was convicted after a six-day trial at Hull Crown Court. He was living on May Street, Hull, on a student visa at the time of the offence in early 2023.

Prosecutor Charlotte Baines told the court the victim had gone to a house on Tavistock Street after a night out. After drinking alcohol and feeling unwell, Ajeyemi offered her a place to sleep and led her upstairs. He then touched her despite her protests.

She pushed him off, ran downstairs in distress, and cried on the sofa while Ajeyemi asked what was wrong “knowing what he had done.”
Ajeyemi later contacted the victim via FaceTime, admitted the assault, and repeatedly apologised. The victim preserved the messages and reported to Humberside Police in March 2023.

In addition to prison, Ajeyemi will be deported to Nigeria after his sentence. He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and handed a seven-year restraining order.

Detective Sergeant Ethan Anderson praised the victim’s bravery and urged all sexual offence survivors to report when ready.
