Northern state governors have unveiled the Security Trust Fund Board and pledged to contribute ₦1 billion monthly to enhance security operations and tackle insecurity across the region.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the initiative is aimed at strengthening the capacity of security agencies, improving intelligence gathering, and supporting coordinated efforts to address banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and other security challenges affecting northern Nigeria.
The governors said the monthly contributions would provide sustainable funding for security interventions, logistics, and other strategic measures designed to improve safety and protect lives and property.
According to the governors, the establishment of the Security Trust Fund Board reflects their collective commitment to working closely with the Federal Government, security agencies, and other stakeholders to restore lasting peace in the region.
They also emphasized the importance of collaboration among state governments, traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents in addressing the root causes of insecurity and strengthening community-based security initiatives.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the board is expected to oversee the management and deployment of the trust fund to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective utilization of resources dedicated to security operations.
The development comes amid renewed efforts by governments at all levels to curb rising insecurity and improve public confidence in the nation’s security architecture.
