The Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) has commended Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his forceful Christmas message calling for an immediate end to violence against Christians in Nigeria.
In a statement released on December 25, 2025, the apex Christian body described Netanyahu’s declaration from Jerusalem as a “moral beacon” and a powerful act of international solidarity. The Prime Minister had stated that persecution targeting Christians in Nigeria “must end now,” emphasizing that violence against any faith community is intolerable.
The NSCEA affirmed that the message offers hope to millions of Nigerian Christians affected by killings, church burnings, and displacement. The Council urged the Nigerian government and global partners to take decisive action to protect religious freedom and ensure the safety of all citizens.
Bishop Professor Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, Secretary of the Elders’ Council, signed the statement, calling the intervention timely and prophetic.
