Osun Election: IGP Told to Immediately Arrest APC Senator Over Controversial Remark

OSOGBO — Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Senator Francis Fadahunsi over a viral video in which the lawmaker allegedly urged supporters to kill Accord Party members and their families ahead of Saturday’s governorship election .

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Governor Adeleke made the demand during an emergency press briefing in Osogbo on Tuesday, describing the senator’s remarks as a national security threat requiring the attention of President Bola Tinubu through the Office of the National Security Adviser .

“This is now beyond politics. This is now a national security threat,” Adeleke stated .

CDA News Nigeria reports that the governor alleged he had raised the matter with the Inspector-General of Police, who confirmed the existence of the video and assured him that action would be taken . Adeleke also called on the Department of State Services to investigate Fadahunsi for what he described as “incitement to genocide” against the people of Ijesaland and Osun State .

In a separate development, the Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Fadahunsi to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo on Wednesday to clarify the circumstances surrounding his remarks .

However, Fadahunsi has denied the allegations, claiming his comment was a political metaphor urging APC supporters to defeat the Accord Party at the ballot box through lawful and peaceful means . He also alleged that the viral video was deliberately edited to distort his actual words .
