The Senate has rejected a motion seeking to investigate the controversial ₦1.3 billion budgetary allocation linked to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an entity the Presidency has previously disowned.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the motion, which sought a legislative probe into the allocation, generated debate among lawmakers before it was eventually rejected during plenary.
The proposed investigation was intended to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the inclusion of the allocation in the national budget and determine whether due process was followed.
The PFIPC has remained at the centre of public controversy after the Presidency stated that the council was not established by the Federal Government and has no legal backing. The development prompted calls from various stakeholders for greater transparency and accountability.
