PM Netanyahu Condemns Attacks on Nigerian Christians in Christmas Message

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has used his annual Christmas message to condemn religious persecution worldwide, specifically addressing violence against Christians in Nigeria.

In a video shared from Jerusalem on December 25, 2025, Netanyahu called for an immediate end to attacks on Christians by militant groups in Nigeria, stating that such persecution “must be stopped.” He contrasted the situation with Israel, where he emphasized that Christian communities thrive under full religious freedom.

“From Jerusalem, I send my warmest greetings to our Christian friends everywhere,” Netanyahu said. He highlighted Israel’s annual distribution of Christmas trees and protection of Christian sites, while noting the decline of Christian populations in parts of the Middle East and areas under Palestinian Authority control.

The Prime Minister’s message has drawn attention from international religious freedom advocates and Nigerian Christian organizations, including the Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA), which earlier commended his stance.
