The Rivers State Police Command has commenced a crackdown on motorists operating vehicles with covered, concealed, or obscured number plates across the state as part of measures aimed at enhancing public safety and tackling criminal activities.
The enforcement exercise is targeted at drivers who deliberately hide their registration numbers with tinted materials, stickers, clothing, plastic covers, or other objects that prevent easy identification of their vehicles.
According to security officials, the move is designed to discourage the use of unidentifiable vehicles in the commission of crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and other unlawful activities.
Motorists have been advised to ensure that their vehicle number plates are clearly visible and comply with existing traffic and security regulations to avoid arrest, prosecution, or other sanctions.
The police reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious vehicles and activities within their communities.
The latest enforcement drive comes amid renewed efforts by security agencies to strengthen surveillance and improve crime prevention strategies across Rivers State.
