President Tinubu Approves Key Diplomatic Postings, Names Envoys to U.S., U.K., France, Turkey

President Bola Tinubu has approved the first set of postings for newly confirmed ambassadors, assigning four envoy-designates to major diplomatic missions in the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Turkey.

The postings follow the Senate’s confirmation of 68 ambassadors in December 2025 and are part of efforts to revitalize Nigeria’s foreign service under the Tinubu administration.

According to a statement by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the appointments include:

· Ambassador Ayodele Oke – Ambassador-designate to France
· Colonel Lateef Are – Ambassador-designate to the United States
· Ambassador Amin Dalhatu – High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom
· Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, former Kebbi State Governor – Ambassador-designate to Turkey

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been directed to formally notify the host governments in line with diplomatic protocols.

These appointments come ahead of President Tinubu’s scheduled state visit to Turkey next week and signal a strategic push to strengthen bilateral ties with key nations.
