Ikwuano – A Magistrate Court in Abia State has ruled that the burial of HRH Eze Professor Sam Ajiri, the traditional ruler of Ntalakwu Oboro Autonomous Community, cannot proceed until an autopsy is conducted to determine the cause and time of his death.
The ruling, delivered on November 6, 2025, follows an application filed by the monarch’s first son, Mr. Dike Ajiri. Chief Magistrate N.R. Olujie restrained the ruler’s wife, Mrs. Chinwe Ajiri, from proceeding with burial plans until a government-approved medical team performs the autopsy with observers from both parties present.
The court’s decision upholds legal advice from the Force Headquarters, emphasizing the need for clarity surrounding the traditional ruler’s death before burial rites can commence.
