ABUJA – The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have announced a two-week extension for the ongoing recruitment exercise for 50,000 police constables.
In a statement on Tuesday, the PSC said the application portal, originally scheduled to close soon, will now remain open until February 8, 2026. This decision follows a review that revealed significant disparities in application numbers across states.
While states like Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high submissions, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra reported comparatively low turnout. The extension aims to ensure equitable representation and provide eligible candidates from underrepresented states more time to apply.
The Head of Protocol and Public Affairs for the PSC, Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, disclosed that over 400,000 applications have already been received nationwide. The Commission has urged state governments, community leaders, and religious bodies to mobilise qualified applicants within their jurisdictions before the new deadline.
Interested and qualified Nigerians are encouraged to apply via the official portal at npfapplication.psc.gov.ng. The PSC and NPF reaffirmed their commitment to a fair, transparent, and credible recruitment process.
