Rep. Benjamin Kalu Conferred with Honorary Fellowship of NIPR

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has been conferred with the honour of Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (FNIPR Hons) at the ongoing Nigeria Public Relations Week 2026 in Kaduna .

In his acceptance remarks, Kalu highlighted the critical role of public relations in shaping responsive and people-centred governance. He emphasized the need to institutionalize robust needs assessment mechanisms that enable a better understanding of citizens’ concerns and chart informed, practical pathways forward .

The Deputy Speaker noted that at a time when the 2025 Edelman Trust Barometer indicates that over 61 per cent of citizens globally express grievance toward institutions, the responsibility of public relations professionals has never been more critical .

Reflecting on his legislative journey, Kalu said his commitment to bridging the information gap between leadership and the people has remained firm. He cited his championship of the Green Chamber Magazine in the 9th Assembly, his convening of electronic town halls in partnership with international institutions, and his contribution to the adoption of the historic Post-Conflict Peace Framework at the 152nd IPU Assembly in Istanbul as key examples .

He commended the NIPR under its President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, for its sustained commitment to professionalism, ethical communication, and reputation management .

Kalu dedicated the recognition to his constituents in Bende Federal Constituency, his colleagues in the National Assembly, and all Nigerians who believe in the power of constructive engagement and accountable leadership .
