PORT HARCOURT, NIGERIA – The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a manager of an ushering company in Port Harcourt, following a reported attack by unknown gunmen.
The victim, whose identity has been withheld pending family notification, was reportedly shot dead on Thursday evening in the Rumuokwurushi area of the state capital. Eyewitnesses said the assailants arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene.
Police spokesperson, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and stated that a team of detectives has been deployed to the area to track down the perpetrators.
“We have commenced a full-scale investigation. We urge anyone with useful information to come forward,” Iringe-Koko said.
The motive for the killing is yet to be ascertained. The victim’s family has called for justice and urged security agencies to ensure that those responsible are apprehended.
The incident has heightened concerns over the security of residents in Port Harcourt, with community leaders calling for increased patrols and improved intelligence gathering to curb rising criminal activities.
