Troops Arrest Terrorist Suppliers, Illegal Miners

ABUJA, NIGERIA – Nigerian troops have arrested several suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and illegal miners in coordinated operations across the North-Central and North-West regions, the Defence Headquarters has announced.

In a statement issued on Friday, military authorities disclosed that the operations targeted networks providing fuel, food, and other supplies to terrorist groups operating in forests and remote areas. Troops also raided illegal mining sites believed to be funding criminal activities.

Weapons, ammunition, and communication devices were recovered during the operations. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, according to military sources.

“These arrests will significantly disrupt the supply chain of terrorist elements. We remain committed to eradicating all forms of criminality,” a military spokesperson said.

The military also reiterated its warning to individuals and groups involved in illegal mining, describing the activity as a major source of funding for banditry and terrorism.

The operations are part of ongoing efforts by the armed forces to degrade the capacity of criminal networks and restore peace in affected regions.
