Rivers Flood Committee Donates Relief Materials to Obio/Akpor LGA

…Deputy Governor’s Committee Delivers Palliatives, Urges Environmental Hygiene

The Obio/Akpor Local Government Council has received relief materials from the Rivers State Flood Management Committee to support communities and individuals affected by flooding across the Local Government Area.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, was represented by the Head of Service, Dr. Mrs. Inyigi Brown, who said the intervention was aimed at providing succour to families and communities impacted by the flood.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that, upon receiving the relief materials on behalf of the Council, the Vice Chairman, Dr. Mrs. Joyce Nyeche, expressed appreciation to the Rivers State Government for the timely intervention, while assuring the Committee that the palliatives would be distributed fairly to families and communities affected by the flood.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Health, Dr. Vincent Wachukwu, highlighted the potential health implications of flooding and urged residents in affected communities to maintain proper environmental hygiene and keep their surroundings clean while awaiting the recession of the floodwaters.

The event concluded with the Head of Service, Dr. Mrs. Inyigi Brown, who represented the Deputy Governor, formally handing over the relief materials to the Vice Chairman of the Obio/Akpor Local Government Council.
