APC Abia Central Senatorial candidate, Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma, has joined the global community in celebrating children on the occasion of the International Day of Children, using the platform to make a powerful and deeply personal promise — that if elected to the Nigerian Senate in 2027, he will champion and sponsor legislation specifically designed to protect the rights, welfare, and future of every Nigerian child.
In a warm and passionate message to children across Abia Central, Abia State, Nigeria, and the world, Atuma described children as “the most sacred and irreplaceable treasures of any society” — stressing that the true measure of good governance lies in how a nation protects, nurtures, and invests in its youngest and most vulnerable citizens.
The former federal lawmaker expressed deep concern over the growing threats facing Nigerian children — including poverty, lack of access to quality education, child labour, trafficking, sexual abuse, malnutrition, and the devastating impact of insecurity on young lives across the country.
Atuma declared that if given the privilege of representing Abia Central at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, he would make child protection legislation one of the foremost priorities of his senatorial agenda — working tirelessly with colleagues to strengthen Nigeria’s legal framework for the protection of children’s rights in line with international standards.
He specifically pledged to sponsor or co-sponsor bills aimed at strengthening penalties for child abuse and trafficking, expanding access to free and qualitative basic education, improving child healthcare funding, and creating legal frameworks that hold perpetrators of crimes against children fully accountable.
“Every child deserves to grow up in safety, dignity, love, and with access to every opportunity life has to offer. If the people of Abia Central honour me with their mandate in 2027, I will ensure that the voices and rights of our children are loudly and powerfully represented on the floor of the Nigerian Senate,” Atuma declared emotionally.
The senatorial candidate also called on parents, teachers, community leaders, traditional rulers, and government at all levels to treat the welfare of children as a matter of urgent national priority — arguing that Nigeria’s future prosperity is directly tied to the quality of investment made in today’s children.
Atuma extended special love, prayers, and warm celebrations to all children across Abia Central and Nigeria, wishing them a joyful, safe, and memorable International Children’s Day celebration.
His message has already generated significant positive reactions across social media, with supporters praising the senatorial candidate for combining celebration with concrete legislative commitment — describing it as a mark of purposeful and forward-thinking leadership.
