Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has pledged that all candidates in the upcoming governorship election will abide by a signed peace accord.
Speaking at the event, Governor Soludo described the other 15 candidates as his friends. He acknowledged the state’s history of fierce political fights but emphasized its tradition of reconciliation.
“The candidates are all my friends,” Soludo stated. “The fight will end on Thursday and by Sunday we will all go for thanksgiving. It is the Anambra way.”
He committed to cooperating with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure a peaceful and credible process.
The peace accord was organized by the National Peace Committee. All 16 candidates contesting the election signed the agreement.
