Super Eagles Kick Off AFCON 2025 Campaign Against Tanzania Tonight

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will tonight begin their campaign for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title as they face the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in their Group C opener.

The match, scheduled for 6:30 PM Nigerian time at the Fez Stadium in Morocco, marks the first encounter between both sides since 1980.

Nigeria, under coach Eric Chelle, enters the tournament seeking redemption after finishing as runners-up to Ivory Coast in the last edition and failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Despite being clear favourites on paper, the Eagles approach the game with caution following a recent friendly loss to Egypt in the buildup to the tournament.

Tanzania, making their fifth AFCON appearance, are aiming to progress beyond the group stage for the first time. They are, however, in poor form, without a win in their last seven matches.

The Nigerian attack, led by African Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi, will be expected to overpower a Tanzanian side reliant on the creativity of Simon Msuva and Feisal Salum.

Fans can watch the match live on CAF TV.
