Super Eagles Soar into Semi-Finals with 2-0 Victory Over Algeria

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have secured a place in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals after a commanding 2-0 victory over Algeria in Marrakech on Friday.

Nigeria, entering the match with the tournament’s most prolific attack, broke the deadlock immediately after halftime. Victor Osimhen rose powerfully to head home in the 46th minute, giving the Eagles a deserved lead against an Algerian side that had boasted the tightest defence in the competition.

The lead was doubled in the 57th minute when striker Akor Adams found the net, cementing Nigeria’s dominance in a match where they created numerous chances from the outset.

Despite several near misses in the first half—including a one-on-one opportunity for Adams that was saved and a goal-line clearance by the Algerian defence—the Super Eagles’ persistent pressure finally paid off.

Algeria, unbeaten before the match, struggled to contain Nigeria’s attacking flair led by Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi. The Desert Foxes offered little in response as the Eagles controlled proceedings for most of the encounter.

With this win, Nigeria advances to the semi-finals, where they will face hosts Morocco, who earlier defeated Cameroon 2-0.
