Super Falcons Stars Ordega, Ohale Hold WAFCON Record With Five Titles Each

Super Falcons stars Francisca Ordega and Osinachi Ohale hold the record for the most Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) titles won by any individual player in the competition’s history, CDA News Nigeria reports.

CDA News gathered from the report that the duo, who now play their club football for Ittihad Ladies in Saudi Arabia and Pachuca Tuzas in Mexico respectively, have each lifted the WAFCON trophy five times, alongside fellow Nigerian legend Florence Ajayi.

The pair are chasing an unprecedented sixth title as the defending champions began their title defence against tournament debutants Malawi on Tuesday night at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

Ohale, 34, has made 81 appearances for the Super Falcons with four goals, while Ordega has scored seven times in 26 outings for the ten-time African champions. Should Nigeria retain the crown, both players would move clear of every other player in WAFCON history.

Other Super Falcons icons who have shaped the tournament’s legacy include Perpetua Nkwocha, the competition’s all-time top scorer with 24 goals, and current stars Onome Ebi and Asisat Oshoala, who remain among Nigeria’s most decorated campaigners.

Nigeria will continue Group C action against Zambia on August 1 and Egypt on August 5, both also in Rabat, as they push for an eleventh continental title.

CDA News Nigeria will keep readers updated as the tournament progresses.
