LAGOS — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a wanted female drug kingpin, Shodunke Yetunde Simbiat, after recovering 23.5 kilograms of cocaine concealed in her children’s bedroom at her Surulere residence in Lagos. The arrest, announced on Saturday, comes 20 months after NDLEA dismantled a cocaine trafficking syndicate in Lagos and Ogun states, leading to the earlier arrest of a couple, Bolanle and Olayinka Dauda, with 57.5kg of cocaine in May 2024. Nationwide Drug Busts: In other operations, NDLEA intercepted: · A 36-year-old businessman at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed Airport with 1,020 opioid pills bound for Italy. · A Beninoise woman at the Seme border with 3,400 tramadol tablets. · Multiple suspects in Kogi, Oyo, Osun, and Kaduna with large quantities of skunk, tramadol, and other illicit drugs. Agency’s Stance: NDLEA Chairman Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa commended the operatives for their professionalism and urged sustained vigilance during the festive season.
