NDLEA Intercepts South African, Grandma With Cocaine, Cannabis at Lagos Airport.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 34-year-old South African woman, Qhina Beauty, with 36.65kg of cocaine at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Beauty was arrested on October 7, 2026, while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to South Africa via Doha. Operatives recovered 30 blocks of cocaine laced with dried pepper during a search of her two travelling bags. She claimed she was recruited by another South African lady who promised her R20,000 upon successful delivery.

Investigations led to the arrest of 46-year-old car dealer Uchenna Victor Umunnakwe, who allegedly lodged her in a hotel ahead of her flight.

In a separate operation, NDLEA arrested a 62-year-old Texas-based Nigerian-American grandmother, Anetor Gloria Ubong, with 9.45kg of ‘loud’ (synthetic cannabis) imported from the United States. She was arrested after arriving on a United Airlines flight from Houston.

CDA News Nigeria reports that other operations in Delta and Oyo states led to the seizure of thousands of tramadol pills, codeine syrup, and cannabis. NDLEA Chairman Brig-Gen. Mohamed Marwa (retd.) urged operatives to sustain the tempo of the war against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
