ABUJA, NIGERIA – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of former Yobe State Head of Service, Alhaji Muhammad Buba Bilal, as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTI), in Akwa Ibom State.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Presidency on Monday, confirming Bilal’s selection following his extensive experience in public administration and governance. The former Head of Service brings decades of administrative expertise to the newly established federal university.
President Tinubu charged the new Pro-Chancellor to provide strategic leadership and ensure the effective takeoff of the institution, which is among the recently established federal universities in the country.
“The President expects the appointee to bring his wealth of experience to bear in positioning FUTI for global competitiveness,” the statement read.
Bilal’s appointment has been welcomed by stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State, who expressed optimism that his administrative pedigree would accelerate the university’s development. The institution is expected to commence full academic activities in the coming academic session.
