…Says ‘I’m Healthy, Sound and Ready to Go’ as He Lands in Lagos
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after a four-week working vacation in Europe, declaring himself fit and ready to resume official duties.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the presidential aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 6:22 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that Tinubu, who departed Abuja on August 30 for what the Presidency described as a three-week working vacation, spent one week in London before proceeding to Paris, France, where he spent the latter part of his trip.
Speaking to journalists on arrival, the President dismissed health concerns. “I enjoyed my trip,” he said. “Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong. Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain: I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go.”
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and other dignitaries received him.
Why Lagos First
The Presidency said Tinubu chose to fly to Lagos first to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. On Independence Day, October 1, the President is expected to attend the premiere of a documentary honouring Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
Strategic Meetings for 2027
CDA News Nigeria gathered that while in Lagos, President Tinubu will hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 general elections before returning to Abuja.
During his stay in Paris, the President held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron, met business leaders including Vincent Bolloré, and dined with billionaire Femi Otedola. He also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for a $7 billion Gateway deep seaport project.
