Trump Agrees Two-Week Ceasefire With Iran After Apocalyptic Threats

WASHINGTON, USA – U.S. President Donald Trump announced a two-week suspension of military action against Iran on Tuesday, just hours before his deadline to “obliterate” the country was set to expire.

The dramatic reversal came after Pakistan brokered the deal, with Trump agreeing to halt attacks provided Iran “completely, immediately, and safely” reopens the Strait of Hormuz .

“I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double-sided ceasefire,” Trump wrote on Truth Social .

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed the deal, stating that “safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran’s armed forces” during the two-week period . He added that if attacks against Iran are halted, “our powerful armed forces will cease their defensive operations” .

The ceasefire came barely an hour before Trump’s 8:00 pm deadline, after he had warned that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again” if Iran refused to make a deal .

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who mediated the agreement, announced that both sides have been invited to Islamabad for further negotiations on Friday, April 10 . Sharif said the ceasefire is “effective immediately” and applies to the U.S., Iran, and their allies .

Trump said the U.S. received a 10-point proposal from Iran, calling it “a workable basis on which to negotiate” . He claimed “almost all points of past contention have been agreed to” between the two nations .

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Israel supports the temporary truce “subject to Iran immediately opening the straits and stopping all attacks on the US, Israel and countries in the region” . However, officials clarified that the ceasefire does not include Lebanon, where Israel continues operations against Hezbollah .
