CASABLANCA — South Africa defender Karabo Dhlamini has rallied her Banyana Banyana teammates ahead of their crucial World Cup play-off clash against Nigeria’s Super Falcons, insisting they must seize the opportunity to keep their 2027 World Cup dreams alive.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that both African giants were forced into the play-off route after suffering quarter-final exits at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Nigeria fell 1-0 to Cameroon, while South Africa lost 2-1 to tournament hosts Morocco. The winner of Thursday’s encounter will advance to the FIFA inter-confederation play-off tournament.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Dhlamini, speaking to ESPN, stressed the importance of taking advantage of this second chance. “The goal is still the same,” she said. “We’ll try our best to win the play-offs because we still have a chance to qualify for the World Cup”.
The match will take place at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca on Thursday, with kickoff scheduled for 9 pm Nigerian time. For Nigeria, a defeat would put their record of appearing at every Women’s World Cup since 1991 under serious threat.
