Osun, Ekiti Elections Will Determine ADC’s Relevance, Not Noise — Sowunmi

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Segun Sowunmi has stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will face its first real test in the 2026 governorship elections in Osun and Ekiti states, not through public declarations or rhetoric.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Sowunmi argued that political credibility is earned at the polls, not through “noisemaking.”

He cautioned against premature judgments of the ADC, noting that emerging parties need time to overcome internal habits and contradictions.

Sowunmi also criticized early signs of entitlement within the ADC regarding ticket allocation even before membership drives are concluded.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the Ekiti election for June 20, 2026, and Osun’s for August 8, 2026, with both seen as key indicators ahead of the 2027 general elections.
