Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has extended congratulations to the National Caretaker Committee of the Labour Party (LP) following a Federal High Court judgment affirming its leadership.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Governor Otti described the court’s decision as “heartwarming and timely,” noting that it presents an opportunity to restore order, peace, and unity within the party.
The court in Abuja upheld the leadership of the committee chaired by Senator Nenadi Usman, with Senator Darlington Nwokocha as Secretary. Governor Otti asserted that the victory should mark the beginning of genuine reorganization and rejuvenation for the Labour Party.
“This victory provides us with the opportunity of ensuring that peace, order and unity return to the party, while ensuring reorganisation and rejuvenation of the party to become… a formidable political platform,” the Governor stated.
He charged the affirmed leadership to embrace purposeful and inclusive governance in line with the party’s constitution and ideals. Otti also called on members behind what he termed “frivolous litigations” to respect the court’s ruling and sheath their swords, assuring them of forgiveness and reintegration if they turn a new leaf.
The Governor thanked the judiciary and supporters who stood by the party during its internal disputes, reiterating his commitment to playing roles that deepen democracy and ensure national peace.
