Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has weighed in on the political turbulence in Rivers State, advising Governor Siminalayi Fubara that his return to office after a state of emergency should have been an opportunity for political maturity.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Fayose drew a parallel with his own political exile and return, suggesting that such experiences are meant to refine a leader.
Fayose dismissed narratives that the ongoing feud between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is tied to President Bola Tinubu’s future electoral ambitions. He clarified that President Tinubu, like anyone else, dislikes ingratitude but asserted that both Wike and Fubara would ultimately support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“Politics is a power game. Nobody solves political game for you. Fubara is the one enjoying the office of the governor of Rivers state. It’s not the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike,” Fayose stated.
He emphasized that the constitution provides the rules of political engagement and that deviating from them to seek public sympathy is a flawed strategy.
