COURT GRANTS INTERIM INJUNCTION IN LEKKI LAND DISPUTECourt Grants Interim Injunction In Lekki Land Dispute

LAGOS, NIGERIA – A Lagos State High Court has granted an interim injunction in the protracted land dispute involving a sprawling expanse of property in the Lekki axis, effectively restraining all parties from further development or trespass pending the determination of the substantive suit.

Justice Oluwaseun Ajayi issued the order following an ex-parte application filed by the claimants, who alleged that encroachers and rival claimants had continued to lease and develop portions of the land despite pending litigation.

The interim injunction bars the respondents, their agents, and any third party from entering, constructing on, or alienating any part of the disputed property. The court also ordered that all parties maintain the status quo ante bellum until the next hearing date.

The disputed land, located in the high-value Lekki corridor, has been a source of intense conflict among rival families, real estate developers, and investors for years. Stakeholders have expressed concerns that the prolonged legal battle could stifle investment in one of Lagos State’s fastest-growing real estate hubs.

The court has adjourned the case for further hearing, with observers anticipating a substantive ruling that could settle the long-standing ownership tussle.
