Labour Party Faction Rejects Court Judgment, Vows Appeal

The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party has strongly rejected its removal from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, describing the action as “strange and unacceptable.”

In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifoh, the party vowed to challenge the Federal High Court judgment at the appellate court and warned against what it called the “strangulation and monetization of democracy” in Nigeria.

The faction criticized the appointment of a caretaker committee led by Senator Nenadi Usman as unconstitutional, alleging it did not follow due process. It also accused Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Nenadi Usman, and others of celebrating a “pyrrhic victory” that would be short-lived.

The party urged its members to remain calm, expressing confidence that the appellate court would overturn the lower court’s decision and restore its legitimate leadership.
