FCT, Rivers Polls Proof of Growing Support for Tinubu – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the outcome of Saturday’s area council elections in the FCT and by-elections in Rivers State is a clear reflection of growing public support for President Bola Tinubu and his Renewed Hope agenda .

Speaking on Sunday while reacting to the results where the All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded significant victories, Wike said the party’s performance demonstrated increasing confidence in the administration’s policies at the grassroots level.

According to the minister, this marks the first time the APC is securing councillorship seats in some hinterland areas of the FCT, alongside what he described as an “overwhelming majority” in local council chairmanship positions .

In a special national broadcast, Wike asserted that the election has effectively separated Nigeria’s true political players from what he termed “roadside pretenders” and “emergency democrats” who patronise corn sellers merely for camera opportunities .

“This election has, indeed, shown that Nigerians now know the ruling party and the real opposition party. The residents of FCT demonstrated that they cannot be deceived by emergency democrats, who have chosen not to see anything good in our country and its government,” Wike stated .

The minister also addressed the recent by-election in Rivers State, describing the APC’s performance as a victory for a “rainbow coalition” of political stakeholders, reflecting broader cross-party collaboration in support of President Tinubu .

President Tinubu, in his reaction, commended Wike for his “remarkable achievements” in the FCT, noting that the minister’s performance had yielded political dividends for the governing APC .
