Israeli PM Netanyahu Condemns Alleged Attacks on Nigerian Christians in Christmas Message

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a strong condemnation of alleged attacks against Christians in Nigeria during his annual Christmas address.

Speaking from Jerusalem, Netanyahu described the reported displacement and violence as unacceptable, urging an immediate halt to what he termed “Muslim militant” assaults.

“The persecution of Christians or members of any religion cannot and must not be tolerated. And Muslim militant displacement and attacks against Christians in Nigeria, that too must end. And it must end now,” Netanyahu declared.

In his message, the Israeli leader contrasted the treatment of Christians in Israel with their situation in parts of the Middle East and Africa, asserting that Israel is the only country in its region where Christians enjoy full religious freedom without fear.

He also cited the burning of a Christmas tree in Jenin, under Palestinian control, as an example of intolerance, while highlighting Jerusalem’s municipal distribution of Christmas trees as a sign of Israel’s commitment to religious coexistence.

Netanyahu further pointed to demographic shifts in Christian populations across the Middle East, noting growth in Israel’s Christian community while claiming decline in areas like Bethlehem under Palestinian authority.
