By-Election Results Show Nigerians’ Confidence in Tinubu – Lagos APC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the outcome of Saturday’s by-elections in Rivers and Kano States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as a clear democratic referendum on President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and the ruling party’s governance agenda .

In a statement issued on Sunday, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, expressed appreciation to voters across the affected constituencies for what he termed “overwhelming support” for APC candidates . The party secured victories in five of six FCT area councils—Abuja Municipal (AMAC), Kwali, Kuje, Bwari, and Abaji—while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won Gwagwalada. APC also clinched both state assembly seats contested in Rivers State .

“The resounding victories recorded by our candidates reaffirm the confidence of the electorate in the Renewed Hope Agenda and the transformative policies being implemented at both federal and state levels,” Oladejo stated .

The party argued that the results demonstrated public recognition of what it described as bold economic reforms, infrastructural expansion, and institutional strengthening under the Tinubu administration . It also took a swipe at opposition parties, accusing them of relying on rhetoric and online activism rather than presenting credible policy alternatives .

“These results send a strong message that governance is not driven by social media popularity or online noise, but by tangible performance and the ability to deliver on promises,” the statement added . The party further dismissed claims that digital influence alone could determine electoral success, insisting that democracy is ultimately decided by voters at the ballot box, not virtual trends .

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the Lagos APC suggested that the momentum from these by-elections signals continued support for the ruling party. “If morning truly shows the day, then the forthcoming 2027 national elections may well be a walk in the park for the ruling APC, on the strength of its performance and the implicit confidence reposed in it by the Nigerian people,” Oladejo said .

The party commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting the elections and praised security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the process. It also acknowledged party faithful, campaign teams, and volunteers for their grassroots mobilisation efforts .

Reaffirming its support for President Tinubu, the Lagos APC called on all Nigerians, including opposition members, to collaborate in building a stronger and more united nation .
