UMUAHIA, NIGERIA — Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has rewarded a Nigerian soldier who successfully apprehended a notorious kidnap kingpin popularly known as “Osisikankwu,” commending his bravery and dedication to duty.
The governor announced the reward during a security briefing, noting that the soldier’s courage and professionalism played a critical role in neutralizing a long-standing security threat in the state. He emphasized that such acts of gallantry deserve recognition and encouragement.
Osisikankwu, widely feared for his alleged involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities across parts of Abia and neighboring states, had been on the radar of security agencies for some time before his eventual arrest. His capture is seen as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb crime and restore public confidence in the state’s security architecture.
Governor Otti reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through logistics, intelligence, and welfare incentives, stressing that collaboration between government and security operatives remains key to tackling insecurity.
He also called on residents to continue providing credible information to law enforcement authorities, assuring them that the government remains determined to ensure the safety of lives and property.
Security analysts say the reward may boost morale among security personnel and encourage proactive operations against criminal elements.
