IGP Orders Special Security Deployment Nationwide

ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered a nationwide special deployment of police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and other strategic locations ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The directive, according to police authorities, is aimed at ensuring the safety of Muslim faithful and other citizens during the festive period, as large gatherings are expected across the country.

The Nigeria Police Force said officers have been strategically positioned to provide adequate security, crowd control, and traffic management at designated prayer venues, recreational centers, and major highways.

The IGP also directed commissioners of police in all states to intensify surveillance, intelligence gathering, and visibility policing to prevent any security breaches before, during, and after the celebrations.

Citizens were urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, while also adhering to security guidelines at public gatherings.

The police leadership reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring Nigerians of a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration nationwide.
