APC chieftain in Abia State, **Comrade Chinweuba Anyaragbu**, has called on the Abia State Government to strengthen consultation, transparency, and community engagement in matters relating to land acquisition across the state.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Anyaragbu acknowledged the contributions of several communities that have voluntarily donated land for public projects over the years. He said such sacrifices were made with the expectation of promoting development and improving the welfare of residents.
CDA News gathered from the commentary that Anyaragbu expressed concern over reports of fresh land acquisitions in some communities. He urged the government to ensure that affected residents are adequately consulted, informed of the purpose of any acquisition, and treated in accordance with applicable laws on compensation and community participation.
According to him, sustainable development should balance infrastructure delivery with the protection of the rights, livelihoods, and dignity of host communities. He added that open dialogue and transparency are essential to sustaining public trust in government development programmes.
The views expressed are those of Comrade Chinweuba Anyaragbu. As of the time of filing this report, the Abia State Government has not publicly responded to the specific issues raised.
