President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the postings of 65 ambassadors-designate to Nigerian diplomatic missions worldwide, strengthening the country’s global representation.
The list comprises 31 non-career and 34 career ambassadors, whose nominations were confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
Notable non-career postings include Reno Omokri to Mexico, Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany, and former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu to Qatar. Senator Jimoh Ibrahim will serve as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, while Lateef Kayode Are heads to the United States and Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom.
Career diplomats were assigned to missions across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas, including Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, India, and Malaysia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément from the UK for Dalhatu and from France for Ayodele Oke. The remaining 62 nominations have been forwarded to host countries for approval.
President Tinubu has directed the ministry to commence induction programmes for the envoys ahead of deployment.
