ABUJA, NIGERIA — The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Labour Party has appointed Ginger Onwusibe as Chairman of its National Congresses and Convention Planning Committee.
The appointment is part of the party’s preparations for upcoming congresses and national convention, which are expected to play a crucial role in strengthening internal structures and repositioning the party ahead of future elections.
Onwusibe, a serving member of the House of Representatives, is widely regarded within party circles as an experienced grassroots mobiliser and administrator. His selection, according to party sources, reflects the confidence of the leadership in his ability to coordinate a transparent and successful convention process.
The committee will be responsible for overseeing the planning, organisation, and execution of the party’s congresses at various levels, as well as ensuring compliance with party guidelines and electoral regulations.
Political observers note that the Labour Party’s preparations signal its determination to consolidate its gains and maintain relevance in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape. The outcome of the congresses and convention is expected to shape the party’s leadership structure and strategic direction in the coming years.
