‘WE’RE ON IT’ – POWER MINISTER BEGS NIGERIANS OVER BLACKOUT

ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has appealed to Nigerians for patience amid persistent nationwide blackouts, assuring citizens that the government is working tirelessly to restore stable electricity.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, Adelabu acknowledged the frustration of millions of Nigerians currently experiencing prolonged power outages across the country. He attributed the blackouts to a combination of factors, including gas supply constraints, grid instability, and ongoing maintenance work at several power generation plants.

“I understand the hardship this is causing. We are on it, and I want to assure Nigerians that we are working around the clock to resolve these challenges,” the minister stated.

Adelabu disclosed that the government is engaging with gas suppliers to address feedstock shortages and is fast-tracking repairs at affected generation facilities. He also announced plans to accelerate the deployment of grid stabilization technologies to prevent future system collapses.

The minister appealed to citizens to remain calm, promising that normalcy would return within days. He urged Nigerians to avoid vandalizing power infrastructure, which he said exacerbates the crisis.

The power sector has faced renewed scrutiny as blackouts in recent weeks have crippled businesses and strained households, reigniting debates about the country’s energy security.
