Police Debunk Claim of Suspect’s Death in Delta

ASABA, DELTA STATE – The Delta State Police Command has debunked reports circulating on social media alleging that a suspect died while in police custody, describing the claim as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Bright Edafe, clarified that the suspect in question is alive and well, contrary to the viral narrative. The command urged members of the public to disregard the misinformation.

“There is no truth to the claim that any suspect died in our custody. The individual is alive and investigations are ongoing. We advise the public to verify information before sharing,” Edafe stated.

The police did not provide further details about the suspect or the nature of the case, stating that doing so could compromise ongoing investigations.

The command reiterated its commitment to upholding the rights of all persons in its custody and assured that all legal procedures are being followed.

The debunked claim had sparked outrage among some online users, prompting the police to issue the clarification. The command urged citizens to rely on official channels for accurate information.
