68 Traffic Offenders Prosecuted in Delta Mobile Courts

ASABA, DELTA STATE – The Delta State Government has prosecuted 68 traffic offenders in mobile courts across the state, as part of efforts to enforce traffic regulations and reduce road crashes.

The offenders, who were arrested for various violations including reckless driving, non-use of seat belts, driving without licenses, and overloading, were tried at mobile courts set up in Asaba, Warri, and Ughelli. Most pleaded guilty and were fined, while others received community service sentences.

The State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Onoriode Agofure, said the exercise was aimed at instilling discipline among motorists and ensuring compliance with traffic laws.

“We will not tolerate lawlessness on our roads. These mobile courts will continue to sit regularly to deter offenders and save lives,” Agofure stated.

The state government also impounded several vehicles and motorcycles for various infractions. Owners were directed to the Vehicle Inspection Office to regularize their documents.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the State Traffic Management Authority collaborated with the state government in the enforcement exercise.

Residents have called for sustained enforcement, noting that reckless driving remains a major cause of accidents on Delta roads.
