Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Tuesday joined protesters in Abuja demonstrating against the Senate’s rejection of mandatory electronic transmission of election results.
The protest, which began on Monday, opposes the Senate’s decision to block real-time electronic transmission of results—a measure advocates say would enhance electoral transparency.
Amaechi attended the demonstration alongside his son, a medical doctor, explaining that he brought him in case the protest turned violent and medical assistance was needed.
The former governor’s participation adds a prominent political voice to the growing call for electoral reform and technological integration in Nigeria’s voting process.
